LOOKS LIKE I MADE IT

I arrived in Santiago de Compostela, Spain yesterday. My certificate states I walked 713 kilometers, or close to 450 miles. I left home in late April and today it is June 2nd.

It has been a good pilgrimage. I’ve spent over a month being outside for most of the day, every day (except for two rest days) and have typically walked 12 to 15 miles a day. I like being outside and walking, so God had blessed me to do both.

There have been so many things that could have gone wrong, but the Lord blessed me with no bad things happening, not even foot problems!

Walking for several hours gives a person time to think. But I found that a lot of those thoughts were temporal ones, such as, “it’s cold, it’s hot, when is the next village, I’m tired, what will I eat when I find a town with an open cafe, etc.”. But I have had time to think about more important things too. A pilgrimage like this helps to increase one’s sense of gratitude I think.

I have spent countless hours listening to music on my phone as well as many hours listening to many books of the Bible, some more than once. But sometimes those temporal thoughts would block out what I was hearing from the Bible.

A few people have asked me, “would you walk it again?” It’s too soon to say, but if I do, will you go with me?
