My plans to walk across Spain in May/June

For a few years I’ve had a desire to walk the Camino de Santiago, which is historical series of roads across Spain that all head toward the city of Santiago, near the west coast of Spain.

I intend to start my walk in late April, 2024 and will be walking close to 450 miles from Pamplona, Spain to Santiago. The plan is to average walking 12 to 15 miles a day for more than 30 days. My goal when I reach Santiago is to earn a “compostela” for completing this pilgrimage. Along the way I hope to become more physically fit, loosing weight in the process. I am looking forward to meeting lots of new people from various countries who are on the same quest as I. I will be able to spend day after day in God’s creation, something I enjoy and is a way for me to feel close to God and spend lots of time with Him. There will also be countless opportunities to have meaningful conversations with fellow “pilgrims” as well as conversations about aching muscles, hurting feet, blisters and the weight of our backpacks.

Perhaps I will feel energetic enough to post pictures and blogs as I travel. So feel free to follow me as I’m on the Way to Santiago. Maybe you will want to take your own Camino someday.
